You won't see a lot of great promotions at Dickey-Stephens Park when the Springfield Cardinals are in town because the Travelers front office knows that a series with the St. Louis affiliate is a natural draw. So while there is only one big giveaway during the Cardinals' stay in town -- a pint glass -- there's a special promotion every night for the games with the Drillers, who come in loaded with some of the Rockies' top talent.

Good questions. Perhaps the local paper, which ovisoubly relies on this blog for story ideas (i.e. Tisue's e-mail to the school district) might ask them.The paper should put its city reporter on the story, too, since the sports staff is just following the ball and not the money.And the school reporter should ask what the district's involvement is, whether in kind or in cash. It's a legitimate question given the mill levy override campaign.
