Based on an announcement released today about another in-state baseball team, I have a new guess for the Travelers' new home for radio broadcasts this season -- 101.1 FM. The University of Arkansas said today that KWBF 101.1 in Little Rock will carry 50 regular-season Razorback baseball games on their network, double the amount most affiliates carry, plus the postseason. Now carrying Razorback baseball for the second straight season, this tells me Equity Broadcasting or whatever big conglomerate owns 101.1 is interested in carrying baseball games and sees a value in it.
These baseball games probably bring in a ton more ad revenue than the 24 hours of Lionel Richie or whatever their current format is, and there would probably be very few scheduling conflicts between the Hogs and Travs. The only question is, how good is the signal? Well, at least it will be better than 1380 AM was last season. Or maybe this guess is wrong. We should find out soon.
