The updated Texas League All-Star rosters are now available on Travs.com, complete with the late adds that include two Travelers pitchers. Click here for the North roster with the Travelers players and here for the South roster. For other info, MiLB.com has a nice page set aside to the game with links to stories and audio (and Travs GM Bill Valentine is Monday's guest of MiLB.com's "Around the Minors" webcast).
Thanks to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, we also know who is going to be in the home-run derby (although I'm puzzled why Wichita and Midland wouldn't be represented -- were they omitted from the list?). Here's the line-up along with their stats. I don't know why, but I'm going with Springfield's Rico Washington, and I predict Frisco's Nate Gold comes in last. If this were a home-run derby for mascots, I'd take Shelly with Rusty Hook coming in last.
Brandon Wood (Arkansas)
15 home runs, 47 RBIs, .289 batting average, .567 slugging
Rico Washington (Springfield)
13 home runs, 56 RBIs, .323 batting average, .616 slugging
Joe Koshansky (Tulsa)
19 home runs, 57 RBIs, .316 batting average, .599 slugging
Hunter Pence (Corpus Christi)
17 home runs, 53 RBIs, .294 batting average, .574 slugging
Nate Gold (Frisco)
10 home runs, 38 RBIs, .293 batting average, .512 slugging
Wladimir Balentien (San Antonio)
12 home runs, 39 RBIs, .245 batting average, .473 slugging
Meet these guys and more soon to be making millions in the Major League at the Texas League All-Star fan fest from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday night in the River Market. There will be autographs, a silent auction for sports memorabilia (count me in if they are putting bids on the Ray Winder Field urine trough), and interactive games for the kids.
And a reminder -- Wednesday is Travelers pint glass night at the Flying Saucer in honor of the All-Star game and final season at Ray Winder Field.
